Research by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has identified serious illness as one of the most predominant causes of stress for Australians.
855,000 individuals between the ages of 45 and 54 consider the health of themselves or loved ones to have been a major problem in the last 12 months.
Individuals could take the data as a cue to investigate the ways in which private health insurance may alleviate some of the stress associated with medical needs.
The second highest level of concern was recorded in the 55 to 64 age bracket – a total of 742,000 people.
Interestingly, Generation Y is also showing signs of widespread stress over health issues, with 270,000 claiming to experience stress over their personal wellbeing.
Health and wellbeing can be better managed with a private health insurance plan that provides customised cover for an individual's situation.
Concerns over illness remain at the forefront of many Australian's minds – in a number of age groups, it managed to rate as a higher stressor than issues related to employment, divorce and gambling addiction.
