One of Queensland's largest private providers has unveiled plans to expand its services to the Gold Coast.
Mater Private Hospital has revealed plans for a multidisciplinary medical centre at Hope Island – the first of its kind for the northern Gold Coast.
The facility is set to feature specialist suites, allied health services, radiology/medical imaging, a Mater pharmacy and a Mater Pathology collection centre.
According to Mater Private Hospital Brisbane and Redland executive director Don Murray said Mater was committed to meeting the growing health care needs of the region.
"Hope Island and the north shore of the Gold Coast have been identified as a region where Mater's services would benefit the community," Mr Murray said.
"This proposal includes a number of opportunities available for private specialists to practice in the medical suites, giving residents access to specialist care in a number of disciplines in one convenient location," he said.
The $6 million development is set to improve access to health care for people covered by private health insurance, as well as those using the public system.
The 1,450 square metre space will also allow residents to have contact with specialist care in a number of disciplines in the one location.
