The Hospital Contribution Fund of Australia (HCF) has expanded My Home Doctor, an after-hours GP service, into Victoria.
My Home Doctor provides registered doctors who make non-emergency home visits outside of normal practice opening hours.
The service is now available in more than 500 suburbs in Melbourne and Geelong, free of charge for HCF members with a Hospital product.
Previous to this expansion, My Home Doctor's was operating in more than 1,100 suburbs in New South Wales and Queensland.
Members of HFC, Australia's largest not-for-profit private health insurance provider, can access My Home Doctor using a dedicated phone hotline.
After a simple identification process, a registered doctor will visit the HFC member's home. Following the consultation, the doctor will issue a report with the member's primary GP.
My Home Doctor has no waiting period for new and existing customers of HFC's private health cover.
HCF's Managing Director Shaun Larkin spoke of expanding My Home Doctor to meet market need for after-hours medical services in Australia.
"We're very pleased to fill that need for our members and, in doing so, extend the value they get from their HCF membership."
